Fine Lavender
La lavande fine



Common names: fine lavender, population lavender, true lavender.

Botanical name : Lavandula angustifolia P. Miller,

Characteristics : Plant color varies from bluish white to intense blue. Each plant is genetically different from its neighbor. Fine lavender grows naturally in the dry Mediterranean mountains and it is cultivated between 600 and 1200 meters in altitude.

Production : 90 tons of essential oils per year plus flowers and bouquets.

Yield : 1 hectare of lavender produces about 15 kg of essential oil.

Usage : fine perfume, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and aromatherapy.

Official sign of quality : PDO (AOP) huile essentielle lavande de Haute Provence (guarantees origin and quality).

 

 

 

 

 

Lavandin
Lavandin
Common name: Lavandin.

Botanical name: Lavandula angustifolia P. Miller. X Lavandula Latifolia Medikus.

Varieties: grosso, sumian, abrial and super.

Characteristics : In a lavandin field, each plant is identical to its neighbor as it is propagated by cuttings, which in full flower gives the illusion of very regular blue waves. Lavandin is a natural hybrid, particularly vigorous, the result of a cross (pollination) between fine lavender and aspic lavender. Lavandin is cultivated between 200 and 700 meters but can grow as high as 1 000 meters in altitude.

Production: About 1 000 tons of essential oils per year plus flowers and bouquets.

Yield : 1 hectare of lavandin produces about 100 kg of essential oil.

Usage : soaps, detergents, perfumes and ambiance fragrances.
